  7. Ca+ because it needs two in order to be a noble gas... (krypton)

no i didnt know that i just looked it up

Ca+ does not have a noble gas configuration because it does not exist. It needs to be Ca+2 for it to be a noble gas for krypton. The rest have noble gas configuration.

Noble gas configuration is defined as the stable configuration of elements in which 8 electrons occupy the outermost orbital of an orbital. The only exception of this rule is Helium, which needs only 2 electrons to fill its valence (outermost) orbital. Of all the above ions, Ca+ is the only one that does not have eight electrons in its valence, and thus does NOT have a noble gas configuration

Ca+ does not have noble gas configuration because it does not have all 8 of its electrons to fill the valence. This does not make it a noble gas since noble gasses have all 8 of their valences full making them non reactive.

  15. ohhh i get it noww!!!!! Just Kidding Mr. Pappas:) I swear I'm not just saying this now because I saw all the other posts.
Ca+ doesnt have a noble gas notation because Ca is an element which needs 2 electrons to reach a noble gas configuration of Krypton (Kr). Therefore inorder for it to have that configuration it would have to be Ca 2+.

Each of the following all have 8 electrons in their outermost shell. therefore each of these elements has a noble-gas configuration except Ca+. Order for it to have a noble gas configuration it must be Ca2+.

Ca+ Does not have noble gas configuration because its valence shell is not completely filled. It is missing one electron to make it behave like a noble gas.

    ReplyDelete
  27. All of the ions except for Ca+ have completed main energy levels with a stable valence shell of 8 electrons. Ca+ has lost only 1 of its 2 valence electrons, and now is extremely reactive and unstable with 1 valence electron. Therefore it does not have a noble gas configuration with a stable and complete valence shell like the rest of the ions listed above.
